"Being given the opportunity to represent the GNAC on national SAAC is something I am very grateful for," said Smith. "I have spent many years playing sports and as my time comes to an end, i am extremely hopeful that all my experience including this one will prepare me for my future. This upcoming spring I will be graduating and hopes to continue in the world of athletics as my goal is to become an athletic director. Working with national SAAC so far has been amazing, everyone on the team is welcoming and are hard workers. Not only do I get to be apart of this team but i get to prepare for my future as well."
The Lasell Field Hockey student-athlete has represented her university as a member of the conference's SAAC Commissioner's Council since the 2022-23 academice year.
The national SAAC represents the student-athlete voice in the Division III governance structure by reviewing legislation, identifying significant student-athlete issues, implementing student-athlete based initiatives, encouraging community outreach, and enhancing D3 student-athlete involvement and understanding in general. The committee meets in-person four times a year and is primarily responsible for maintaining and coordinating the division's nationwide partnership with Special Olympics.
