Newton, MA- The Lasell University field hockey team delivered a dominant offensive performance in a 6-2 home victory over Rivier University on Tuesday night, improving to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
Lasell wasted no time getting on the board, exploding for four goals in the opening quarter. Mara Boldy opened the scoring at 7:30 with an unassisted strike, then added her second just four minutes later off of a penalty stroke. Brooklyn Northcutt and Jacquelyn Scopa also tallied goals in the first, giving the Lasers a commanding 4-0 lead.
Rivier responded in the second with a goal from Brianna Spinelli, but Lasell extended the lead in the third thanks to Halleen Seguin, assisted by Scopa. Though the Raiders answered again, Northcutt's second goal of the game — off a feed from Boldy — put the game out of reach at 6-2.
Lasell's offense was firing on all cylinders with 20 total shots, including 12 on target. Boldy led the charge with two goals and an assist on the night, followed by Northcutt with two goals and Scopa with a goal and assist of her own.
On the defensive end, goalkeeper McKenna Ecker earned the win with 7 saves in a full 60-minute effort, while the Lasers' backline allowed just 10 shots on goal across four quarters.
Up Next: Lasell will be taking this momentum into their next conference matchup, this Saturday at Simmons University.
