Boston, MA- The Lasell field hockey team battled to a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Simmons University on Saturday afternoon, securing another key GNAC win.
The Lasers wasted no time setting the tone, earning a penalty stroke just four minutes into the opening quarter. Kaylene Ellis capitalized on the opportunity, burying her shot to give Lasell an early 1–0 lead.
Simmons responded with heavy pressure in the second quarter, outshooting Lasell 10–0, but the Lasers defense held firm. Goalie McKenna Ecker stood tall between the pipes, making several clutch saves to preserve the advantage heading into halftime.
The Sharks managed to even the score midway through the third, but Lasell refused to back down. With just under two minutes left in regulation, Megan Crabtree connected with Halleen Seguin off a penalty corner for the decisive goal, lifting the Lasers to a thrilling 2–1 win.
