MBB: Lasers Fly Past NEC in First Conference Matchup of Season
Newton, MA- The Lasell University mens basketball team opened up conference play with a dominating 86-55 win over NEC.
Lasell set the tone early and never looked back, jumping out to a 7–0 lead behind Cameron Nell's perfect shooting start and strong ball movement from Jonathan Box. Tyler Costin quickly caught fire from the perimeter, knocking down multiple threes, while Andy Madesko controlled the tempo with his passing and finishing inside. Box was everywhere offensively, scoring efficiently and racking up assists as Lasell built a double-digit cushion. On the defensive end, Cameron Foster-Martez anchored the glass and protected the rim, helping limit New England College's second chances. Lasell's balanced attack and defensive pressure fueled a steady run that carried into halftime, sending them to the locker room with a commanding 50–26 advantage.
Lasell continued to pour it on after the break, with Costin finishing with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from three and Nell adding 12 points, while also contributing 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. Box matched Costin with 15 points to go along with 6 assists, and Madesko filled the stat sheet with 11 points, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Off the bench, Daniel Edmonds provided a spark with 8 points on perfect three-point shooting, while Che Hanks chipped in 10 points and Quinton Partee Jr. added 6. Foster-Martez dominated the interior with 11 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks as Lasell shot 47.1% from the field, and cruised to an 86–55 victory.
