MBB: Lasers Beat Mitchell in Final Regular-Season Matchup

New London, CT- The Lasell University men's basketball team finished out their regular-season play with a 77-74 win over Mitchell College.

Lasell put together an energetic and physical first half, battling through momentum swings to take a 35–34 lead into the break. Early on, defensive pressure from Tyler Costin and Che Hanks set the tone with multiple steals, while Esmer Madesko got the offense going with aggressive drives and free throws. Andy Madesko contributed in transition and on the glass, and Cameron Foster-Martez knocked down a key three-pointer to spark a scoring run. Quinton Partee Jr. was dominant inside, finishing strong at the rim, throwing down a dunk, and controlling the boards with several offensive rebounds to create second-chance points. Despite a handful of turnovers and missed free throws, Lasell's rebounding edge and interior presence helped them close the half on top by one, in a tightly contested matchup.

In the second half, the Lasers battled through momentum swings before taking control late to secure the win. After trading buckets early, Lasell found rhythm midway through the half as Hanks ignited a run with back-to-back steals and finishes, tying the game at 50-50 and then giving Lasell the lead at the line. Andy Madesko followed with a powerful dunk and continued to attack the glass, while Esmer Madesko knocked down a clutch three-pointer and added key defensive rebounds despite battling foul trouble. Hanks stayed aggressive from the perimeter, burying a three to stretch the lead to double digits, and Lasell's defense tightened down the stretch. Late layups from Andy Madesko and Hanks pushed the advantage to multiple possessions, and although free throws were missed in the final seconds, Lasell maintained control to close out a 77-72 victory.

The Lasers finished out their regular season with an overall record of 13-12 and a conference record of 8-4.
