MBB: Men’s Basketball Season Concludes in Quarterfinal Thriller
Newton, MA- The 2025–26 campaign for Lasell University men's basketball came to a dramatic close Tuesday night, as the Lasers fell 76–74 to Emmanuel College (MA) Saints in the GNAC Quarterfinals.
Lasell came out aggressive and grabbed early momentum from the opening tip. After trading baskets in the first few minutes, the Lasers began to separate themselves with efficient ball movement and strong inside play from the Madesko brothers. Tyler Costin knocked down multiple three-pointers, while Esmer Madesko attacked the rim consistently to keep the Saints on their heels. Defensively, Lasell forced turnovers that led to transition opportunities, controlled the glass, and capitalized on second-chance points. By halftime, the Lasers had built a commanding 44–29 lead.
Emmanuel responded in the second half, turning up the defensive pressure and chipping away at the deficit possession by possession. Lasell's early cushion quickly evaporated as turnovers and missed opportunities allowed the Saints to claw back into the game. What followed was a back-and-forth battle in the closing minutes, featuring multiple lead changes and clutch baskets on both sides.
After the game was tied late, Emmanuel delivered the decisive bucket in the final seconds to complete the comeback and secure the 76–74 victory, bringing the Lasers' season to a heartbreaking end.
Lasell closes the 2025–26 season with a 13–13 overall record and an 8–4 mark in conference play, earning a GNAC postseason berth after a consistent showing throughout the year. Despite the tough finish, the season reflected steady progress for the program, as the Lasers carried their competitiveness into the quarterfinal round and continued to build within conference play.
