WENHAM, MA - The Lasell University men's soccer team dropped a non-conference road match to Gordon College on Wednesday evening, falling 2-0.
The Lasers were held to just one shot on goal in the contest, a second-half attempt by defender Dante Mills, while Gordon (2-0-1) controlled the pace offensively, finishing with 18 total shots and seven on target.
Gordon opened the scoring in the 14th minute to give the Fighting Scots a 1-0 advantage. Despite solid defensive play by Lasell throughout the remainder of the half, the Lasers were unable to generate offensive chances and entered the break trailing by one.
Lasell goalkeeper Avry Whitson made five saves in a full 90-minute effort, but Gordon extended its lead in the 72nd minute with an unassisted goal from Nick Vavala, sealing the 2-0 result. The Lasers managed two corner kicks in the match and limited Gordon to just three. However, Lasell struggled to find rhythm in the attacking third, with only one total shot across 90 minutes.
Up Next: The Lasers will take on Lesley University in their home-opener this coming Saturday, kick-off at 12:00 sharp.
