Standish, ME- Lasell men's soccer fought hard but fell 5-2 to Saint Joseph's (Maine) Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. The Lasers, now 2-4-1 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play, faced a tough opponent that improved to 2-4-0 overall and 2-1-0 in conference.
Saint Joseph's struck early in the first half with a goal from Cole Bishop, assisted by Nick Marion, at 2:34. Lasell answered back quickly with a goal from forward Daniel Faynstein in the 5th minute, leveling the score at 1-1. But Saint Joseph's reclaimed the lead near halftime when Nick Marion found the net again off an assist from Cole Bishop at 37:55.
The second half saw a flurry of action with both teams trading goals. Lasell's Owen O'Brien scored unassisted at 65:07 to tie the match once more. However, Saint Joseph's pulled away with four unanswered goals, including two by Nick Marion (one assisted by Cole Bishop), a strike from Godin Ndayishimiye (assisted by Cole Bishop), and a late goal by Joseph Perron set up by Ndayishimiye.
