Newton, MA – The Lasell University men's soccer team turned in a dominant performance on Wednesday afternoon, earning a 2-0 shutout victory over Albertus Magnus behind a strong showing from goalkeeper Reed Brown and a pair of second-half goals from the Lasers' attack.
The opening half saw both sides trade early scoring chances, with Daniel Faynstein leading the offensive push for Lasell, forcing multiple saves from the Albertus keeper. The Lasers kept steady pressure through several corners but entered halftime locked in at 0-0.
Lasell wasted little time breaking through after the break. In the 53rd minute, Faynstein capitalized on a loose ball in the box to give the Lasers a 1-0 lead. Just over ten minutes later, Owen O'Brien doubled the advantage in the 64th minute, finishing a precise feed from Daniel Augustine to make it 2-0. From there, Lasell's defense held firm. Brown came up clutch with several key saves down the stretch, turning away multiple late attempts, including a pair of dangerous shots in the closing minutes to preserve the clean sheet.
Up Next – Lasell will look to carry its momentum into Saturday, October 18, when they host Rivier for Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
