Track and Field Competes at Smith Winter Classic

The Lasers traveled to Smith College on Saturday, December 5^th to compete in the Smith Winter Classic.  A total of 17 runners competed in the first varsity meet for the Indoor Track and Field Team.  During the meet, a total of six records, that had been set during the team's time as a club team, were broken.

On the women's side Cate Hart (Dedham, MA) ran a time of 9.74 in the 55 meter dash and Meagan McCole (West Bridgewater, MA) ran a time of 1:16.40 in the 400 meter race.  Sophomore Meghan Missett (Loewll, MA) ran a time of 12:24:88 for the 3000 meter run, placing 7^th overall.  These are all new school records for the Lasers. 

On the men's side, three first year runners set the pace for the Lasers.  Matt Scully (Watertown, CT) ran a time of 4:44.8 in the mile run, placing 5th overall and breaking '09 graduate Chris Johnson's record.  Issac Montoya (El Paso, TX) set a  school record in the 55 meter high hurdles with a time of 9.68 and Issac Soares (Somerset, MA) placed 7th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:09.04. 

The teams will be not be back in action until January 16^th, 2010 when they will travel to Brandeis University to compete in the Reggie Poyau Invitational.
