Lasers Split Weekend, 2-2, at SUNYIT; Parker Earns All-Tournament
UTICA, NY- Sophomore outside hitter Spencer Parker (Newington, CT) was named to the All-Tournament team at the SUNYIT Invitational this weekend as the Lasell College men’s volleyball team went 2-2 in non-conference action.

UTICA, NY- Sophomore outside hitter Spencer Parker (Newington, CT) was named to the All-Tournament team at the SUNYIT Invitational this weekend as the Lasell College men's volleyball team went 2-2 in non-conference action.
Lasell opened the weekend with a 3-1 victory over The Sage Colleges, winning the first two sets, 25-18 and 25-20, before falling in the third game 25-16. Lasell ultimately came away with the triumph in the fourth set, 25-17.
Parker produced 17 kills in the match, hitting a .433 clip on 30 attempts with four errors. The sophomore outside also put down three blocks and added three digs in the match. Sophomore outside Mike Harrington (Billerica, MA) put away nine kills and led the team by hitting 53.8% in the contest. Harrington also connected on three solo and one assisted block.
Freshman setter Andrew Glenn (Westport, CT) put out 38 assists for the attackers, adding six digs while sophomore Alex Mill (Danville, NH) collected a team-best nine digs and Harry Strobel (Westport, CT) followed with eight digs.
Lasell then fell in four sets in the later match of the day to Stevenson College; 25-20, 23-25, 25-23, 25-21.
Parker once again put down 17 kills in the contest and was followed by Strobel with seven and Mill and Harrington with six each. Strobel hit 58% in the contest, earning points off of 7-of-12 total attacks, with no errors, while also matching with Glenn for a team-best eight digs in the contest. Glenn also added 30 assists in a losing effort.
On Sunday, the Lasers began with a 3-0 sweep of Hilbert College, by scores of 25-13, 25-18, and 25-13. Harrington topped all hitters with seven kills on 11 attempts, with just one error, good for a .545 clip. Harrington also put away three individual and two double blocks in the match. Strobel, Mill, and Parker each chipped in with four kills and sophomore Chris Burns (Chelmsford, MA) dug up eight balls as Lasell's libero. Glenn had 18 helpers in the match.
The Lasers final matchup came against the hosts of the tournament, SUNY IT. Lasell won the first set 25-14 before the Wildcats came back to force extra points in set two, winning 26-24. SUNY won the third set by a narrow two point margin, 25-23, before Lasell tied the match up at 2-2 with a 25-22 victory in the fourth set. In the deciding game, SUNY slid by with a 16-14 edge to take the match.
Parker registered 22 kills in the match, in addition to eight digs, three solo blocks and one assisted block. Strobel recorded 14 kills and seven digs and Glenn put up 41 assists in the five sets. Burns collected nine digs to lead the Lasers defensively and Mill chipped in with eight digs, four kills, and five blocks.
The Lasers are now 4-3 this season and will open up at home on Tuesday, January 25th at 7:00 p.m. against Lesley University.
