NEWTON, MA – The Lasell men's volleyball team was defeated by non-conference opponent, Nichols College in straight sets. The loss came with set scores of 20-25, 23-25, and 27-29, as Lasell struggled to overcome the offensive momentum of Nichols.
The loss dropped Lasell's overall record to 13-5, while Nichols improved to 9-11. Despite their valiant effort, the Lasers were unable to overcome the defensive and offensive prowess of the Bison.
Jasper Schultz led the team with 10 kills and 12 total points, contributing solidly both in attack and serve. Theo Zaharewicz followed closely with 9 kills and 9.5 points, while Trystan Maloney posted 22 assists. On defense, Colin Liedke tallied 8 digs for the Lasers.
While Lasell posted a .212 hitting percentage, Nichols held a stronger .350 average, largely driven by their successful attack efforts from Jack Normandin and Tanner Soracco, who combined for 29 kills and 29.5 points. The match was competitive, especially in the third set, where Lasell fought to keep the game alive, but ultimately fell short in a tight finish.
The Lasers will regroup and focus on their upcoming matches as they look to bounce back from this loss.
Up Next: The Lasers will be back this coming Tuesday, for a conference matchup against Regis College.
