Boston, MA - The Lasell men's volleyball team went into the city on Saturday for a match against Emmanuel College at Jean Yawkey Center. In a hard-fought five-setter, the Lasers fell arrowly to the Saints 3-2.
In the first set, the Lasers jumped out to a 13-6 advantage and held at least a 6-point edge for the remainder of the set, going up 1-0. The second set saw the Saints even the score as they were able to pull away late winning 25-21. Going into the third, each team held narrow leads but it remained tight throughout as the set found itself tied 24-24. In a set that saw a whopping 17 tie-scores, back-to-back kills from Jasper Schultz finally gave the Lasers the set win as they outlasted the Saints 33-31. Emmanuel however was able to respond again in the fourth, using a 6-0 run to take the set 25-15, and setting up for a deciding fifth set. After falling behind 10-5, the Lasers battled back to take an 11-10 edge. They would even get to game-point at 16-15, but relinquished the next three points and took a tough loss 18-16, giving the Saints the 3-2 win.
Theo Zaharewicz led the Lasers in kills on the day with 21 and posted a 0.474% hitting percentage. Jasper Schultz and Benjamin Walinjom added 15 kills apiece for the Lasers and Ryan Mesnik had a game-high 12 digs.
