Cambridge, MA- Lasell University's men's volleyball team fell to MIT in straight sets, losing 3-0 in a road matchup. The final scores were 25-21, 25-22, and 25-18, with Lasell unable to overcome the powerful offensive play of MIT.
The Lasell offense struggled throughout the match, registering a total of just 18 kills with a hitting percentage of .151. Theo Zaharewicz led the team with 14 kills, hitting .387, while Dexter Thomas added three kills on a .333 hitting percentage. Freshman setter Trystan Maloney registered 28 assists on the evening.
The team's defense was also tested, with Lasell recording 27 digs overall, but it was not enough to stifle the MIT attack.
MIT's offense was firing on all cylinders, as they amassed 47 kills with a much higher hitting percentage of .411. Grant Oh was the standout player for MIT, contributing 20 kills on .459 hitting. Despite strong individual performances from Zaharewicz and others, Lasell struggled to contain MIT's attack, particularly in the second and third sets.
