Marcy, NY- The Lasell University men's volleyball team opened up their 2026 campaign with two strong wins against SUNY Poly (3-1) and Nazareth (3-0).
Lasell vs SUNY Poly
Lasell gained control of the match after dropping the first set 22-25. They took the final sets 25-19, 25-23, and 25-21. Once settled, the Lasers found their rhythm offensively and tightened up defensively, using balanced scoring and timely blocks to swing momentum in their favor. Jasper Schultz spearheaded the attack with a match-high 21 kills while hitting an efficient .341. Paten Buckwalter provided a spark with five kills on a .417 hitting percentage, while Branch Barnes chipped in eight kills, Matthew Mitko added seven, and Ryan Tierney finished with six, giving Lasell consistent production across the front row. Setter Trystan Maloney orchestrated the offense with 18 assists and made a strong impact at the net defensively, while Barnes (13 assists) and Micah Nakasato (12 assists) helped keep the offense flowing.
Lasell vs Nazareth
Lasell dominated the entire match taking sets 25-15, 25-22, and 25-19. The Lasers offense was paced by Schultz and Tierney, who each recorded 7 kills, and Tierney adding an assist while hitting .333. Teddy Teraszkiewicz delivered an efficient performance, posting 6 kills on a team-high .500 hitting percentage, while Buckwalter contributed 5 kills and hit .444. Nathaniel Cobuzzi added 3 kills, and Barnes chipped in 2. The offense was primarily set up by Maloney once again and Nakasato, who had 9 assists apiece, while Barnes added 7 assists to help distribute the attack.
