MVB: Lasers Defeat Curry 3-0
Newton, MA- The Lasell University men's volleyball team defeated Curry College 3-0 on Friday evening bringing their record to 5-1.
Lasell and Curry were locked in a back-and-forth battle throughout the first set, with neither team able to build much separation early. Jasper Schultz and Branch Barnes paced the Lasers offensively, helping Lasell stay even through the middle of the set with multiple ties. Late points from Lasell, combined with a few Curry errors, proved decisive as the Lasers pulled ahead in the closing stretch to take the opening set, 25–21.
The Lasers took control early in the second set and never looked back, building a steady lead behind strong net play from Paten Buckwalter and Schultz. Barnes and Trystan Maloney orchestrated the offense effectively as Lasell extended the margin into the middle of the set, while timely blocks and errors from Curry stalled any sustained rally. The Colonels made brief pushes, but Lasell responded with service aces and balanced scoring to close out a dominant 25–16 second-set victory.
Lasell dictated the pace throughout the third set, jumping out in front early and steadily widening the gap with consistent offense and disciplined play. Buckwalter delivered efficient swings, while Barnes anchored the front row with timely blocks, an ace, and clutch finishes. After pulling away midway through the set, Lasell closed strong to secure a convincing 25–16 win.
Up Next- The Lasers will continue their 2026 campaign when they travel to face Springfield College on Tuesday January 27.
