Union, NJ- The Lasell University men's volleyball team delivered a commanding 3-0 win against Baruch in their opening matchup at the Kean Clash.
Lasell took charge winning the first set 25-15, second set 25-22 and the third 25-18. The Lasers turned in a balanced team performance, using steady offense and strong defensive play at the net to earn the win. They finished with 33 kills on a .211 hitting percentage, while distributing the offense effectively with 29 assists. Defensively, Lasell was active all match, totaling 40 digs and 20 total blocks, making it difficult for Baruch to find consistent rhythm.
Offensively, Branch Barnes led the attack with 8 kills on a .350 hitting percentage, adding 7 assists, and a team-high 12 digs for a well-rounded performance. Matthew Mitko also recorded 8 kills and contributed 4 block assists, while Paten Buckwalter chipped in 6 kills, an ace, and 3 block assists. At the setter position, Trystan Maloney directed the offense with 13 assists, and the Lasers added pressure from the service line with 5 service aces overall.
