Keene, NH-- The Lasell College men's cross country team faced tough, cross-divisional competition on Saturday morning at the Keene State College Alumni Invitational to strike up the 2011 campaign.
Independent runners took the top spot in the meet as a team, with five unattached athletes ranking in the top 10, while the overall individual winner on the 5K, Kevin Hoyt (Newtown, CT), hailed from the hosting Keene State University squad.
With such strong regional, and out-of-division competition, the Lasers top slot went to freshman Kyle Northrop (Bellingham, MA), scoring the 44th place spot in his first collegiate appearance. Northrop's time clocked in at 18:36 for the Lasers best run of the day.
Raymon Donis (Raynham, MA) was the second Laser runner to cross the finish line in a time of 19:49, followed by Grant Vantine (Fitchburg, MA), Isaac Montoya (El Paso, TX), Connor Devlin (Wellesley, MA), and JB Leger (Waltham, MA) who completed between the times of 20:45 and 21:03, in succession.
Mikhail Krevosky (Oxford, MA) and Michael Isherwood (Warwick, RI) rounded out the Laser runners on the Owl Athletic Complex course. Krevosky finished at 22:50 and Isherwood concluded at 24:25.
The Lasers next meet is slated for September 24th at the Elms Blazer Invitational.
