Follow the Lasers in the Boston Marathon
You can track coach Chris Johnson and Lasell College math professor Neil Hatem by following the below links as well as some information on professor Hatem's history with the marathon.
Neil Hatem is a professor of mathematics at Lasell College, but he's also an avid athlete and will be using his love of sport to push himself through the grueling 26.2 mile Boston Marathon. He will be running for the American Liver Foundation, and is hoping to average nine-minute miles during the race.
Hatem is no stranger to the Boston Marathon, in fact he has a fair bit of history with the event, saying "Boston is the most famous marathon in the World, and I grew up near Heartbreak hill. I have always loved watching it as a kid and it made me dream of running it one day."
"Officially" running the Boston Marathon is a bucket list item for Hatem, and one he will happily check off in less than 24 hours. He has however run the marathon before, jumping in and running as a "bandit" a few times several years ago. In fact, one year he unofficially ran the marathon dressed as the Legend, Larry Bird himself, saying "I had a blonde wig on and everything, classic."
While we'll miss seeing the faux blonde locks bouncing as he climbs Heartbreak hill, Professor Hatem will be official and will be doing it for a great cause.
You can track Chris Johnson and Neil Hatem of the Lasell College campus community when they take part in the 2012 Boston Marathon.
