BIDDEFORD, Maine (9/12/15) - Behind seven improved racers, the Lasell men's cross country team placed 7th overall with 179 points on Saturday afternoon at the Universiy of New England Invite. 

Freshman Nick Garifalos (Spotswood, N.J.) was the Lasell victor for the second week in a row, placing 18th overall. Garifalos chopped .13 seconds from his last race at Fitchburg, finishing at 29:14.0. Sophomore Jeremy Shriber (Central Valley, N.Y.) took second for the Lasers - a repeat conclusion from Fitchburg - and finished at 30:00.5.

Freshmen Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.) and James Phelps (Westbrook, Maine) crossed the line next in the same pack, and clocked in after improved performances of 31:07.0 and 31:07.2, respectively. Senior Patrick Sponzo (Central Valley, N.Y.) joined the duo at 31:09, before freshman Kyle Vonick (Wethersfield, Conn.) trickled in at 32:49.7. 

Sophomore Troy Gonsalves (Providence, R.I.) dropped .47 seconds from his Fitchburg race and finished at 34:00.3.

The Lasers will travel to UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, September 12 for their next race starting at 10:30 a.m.
