XC: Lasers compete in Corsair Classic
Dartmouth, MA- Lasell's cross country teams competed at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic, with several standout individual performances, despite tough competition.
In the men's 8k sub-varsity race, Caleb Ruch led the way, finishing 54th with a time of 28:00.54 — a personal best by 27 seconds and now the second fastest in program history. Juan Susa and Jordan Woodley also posted personal bests, improving by 86 and 66 seconds respectively. Evan Lewis ran a strong season-best, shaving more than four minutes off his previous time.
On the women's side in the 6k varsity race, the team faced a challenging field that included several Division I and II programs. Lasell placed 36th out of 36 teams, but several runners achieved personal or season-best performances. Ella Meeker finished 181st with a season-best time of 25:46.44, while Olivia Pennington and Paige Helferich both recorded personal bests, improving by over 50 seconds each. Molly Cohen and Victoria El-Azem also contributed solid efforts, with El-Azem posting a season-best.
Overall, while the team faced stiff competition, the impressive individual improvements show promising progress as the season moves forward.
Up Next: The Lasers will be back on the course October 3rd as they head to Norwich to compete in the Cadet XC Invitational.
