SB: Hopkins Named GNAC Player of the Year
With the conclusion of the 2024 season, the Lasers have collected eight All-Conference selections. Lasell went 25-18 on the season, finishing regular season play as the #1 seed in the South Division.
Katie Hopkins took home the Player of the Year title as well as an All-Conference first team bid. Hopkins was a driving force for the Lasers offense this season, leading the team with a .394 batting average. On the season Hopkins collected 52 hits, 29 runs, 5 homeruns, and 35 RBI's. With that, a new Lasell record has been made with Hopkins sitting at the top with 117 career RBI's. Defensively, Hopkins finished the season with a .949 fielding percentage, with 35 putouts and 76 assists earning a first-team selection at third-base.
Abigail Fortin (P) took home a second-team selection. Fortin went 16-11 on the mound, with 114 innings pitched and 50 strikeouts.
Eryn Sheeley (UTIL) also took home second-team honors for the Lasers. Sheeley ended with a .322 batting average, 38 hits, 32 RBI's and 5 homeruns on the season. Defensively, Sheeley finished with a .966 fielding percentage with 157 putouts an 42 assists. Sheeley also was named to the all-conference third-team selections, this time from the mound. Pitching 128 innings for the Lasers, a record of 12-8, and 121 strikeouts. Sheeley now sits at the top of quite a few Lasell records, including most strikeouts in a single season, most career strikeouts, most career wins, most strikeouts in a single game, and lowest opponent batting average.
Shyanne Raccio (1B) also recieved third-team honors. Raccio played in 41 games for the Lasers, finishing her rookie season with a .312 batting average, 34 hits, and 14 RBI's. Defensively Raccio collected 112 putouts and 12 assists on the season.
Ally Kirk (OF) was named All-Conference Third-Team as well. Offensively, Kirk collected 41 hits, 22 RBI's and finished the season with a .369 batting average. In the field, Kirk collected 51 putouts and 1 assist for a fielding percentage of .945.
Grace LeClair took home All-Sportsmanship honors on the season. LeClair played in 35 games for the Lasers, tallying 39 putouts and 6 assists.
