SB: Lasers Split Conference Matchup Against Mitchell

New London, CT- The Lasers travelled to GNAC opponent Mitchell College for a conference doubleheader, splitting the day with a 10-0 win and 8-3 loss.
Game 1
Lasell's offense was explosive from the start, putting up five runs in the first inning and never looking back. The Lasers tallied 11 hits in the game, with several players contributing key performances at the plate.
Emily Rondeau led the offensive charge with a stellar 2-for-4 performance, including 2 RBIs and a double. Rondeau's two-run double in the second inning extended the Lasers' lead to 7-0. The standout catcher also contributed with a pair of RBIs in the third inning, bringing the score to 10-0.
Mackenzie Still continued her solid play with a 1-for-2 effort, driving in a run in the first inning to help Lasell build an early lead. Katie Hopkins was another key contributor, going 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs, including a run-scoring single in the second inning. Shyanne Raccio also had a productive day at the plate, going 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs.
On the mound, Abigail Fortin was exceptional, tossing a complete-game shutout. Fortin (4-4) allowed just 3 hits over 5 innings, walking 4 and striking out 3 while keeping Mitchell off the scoreboard. Her performance was key in securing the victory and keeping Mitchell from mounting any serious threats.
Game 2
Lasell got off to a strong start, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning, but Mitchell quickly responded and then pulled away in the later innings to seal the win.
Katie Hopkins had a solid performance at the plate, going 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs, including a key 2-run single in the first inning to give Lasell an early lead. Shyanne Raccio also contributed with a 1-for-2 effort, driving in one of Lasell's three runs. However, despite seven hits, the Lasers were unable to muster a rally after the early offense.
Mitchell responded to Lasell's early 3-0 lead in the first inning with a run in the bottom of the first and four more in the third inning to take a 4-3 lead. The Mariners added to their lead with a four-run sixth inning, which proved to be the difference in the game.
Up Next: Lasell will be back in action this coming Tuesday with a non-conference matchup against Keene State.
