WBB: Lasers Fall 68–55 at Norwich
Northfield, VT- The Lasell University women's basketball team saw a strong start slip away Wednesday night, falling 68–55 to Norwich in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup.
Lasell opened the game with energy on both ends, jumping out to a 20–11 lead after the first quarter behind efficient shooting and aggressive play. The Lasers connected on 8-of-17 from the field in the opening frame and knocked down four three-pointers to control the early tempo.
Momentum shifted in the second quarter, however, as Norwich responded with a 23–2 run while Lasell struggled to find an offensive rhythm. The Lasers shot just 1-for-13 in the period, allowing the Cadets to take a 34–22 advantage into halftime.
Lasell regrouped coming out of the break and battled back in the third quarter, outscoring Norwich 19–10 to cut the deficit to three possessions heading into the final 10 minutes. Erica Lendall provided a spark off the bench, finishing with a team-high 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting while knocking down six three-pointers. Laura Johnson anchored the paint with a dominant double-double, recording 14 points and 23 rebounds, including 16 on the defensive end.
Despite the push, Norwich closed the game at the free throw line in the fourth quarter, shooting 9-for-10 from the stripe to maintain separation. Lasell forced 17 turnovers and totaled 34 bench points on the night, but shot 30.1 percent from the floor for the game.
