WLAX: Lasers Roll Past Thomas 18-3
Newton, MA- The Lasell University women's lacrosse team continued its strong start to the 2026 season on Thursday afternoon, cruising to an 18–3 victory over Thomas College at Grellier Field.
The Lasers wasted little time setting the tone, jumping out to a dominant 7–1 lead in the opening quarter. Emily Watson spearheaded the early surge, scoring three of Lasell's first five goals while also setting up Ruby Cahill for a score midway through the period. Lily Hunt and Emma Dressel also added first-quarter tallies as Lasell controlled possession and dictated the pace early.
Lasell carried that momentum into the second quarter, adding five more goals to build a 12–2 halftime advantage. Cahill scored twice in the frame, both assisted by Watson, while Mara Boldy, Juliana Gonzalez, and Hunt also found the back of the net.
The Lasers continued their balanced attack in the second half. Zoe Avery opened third-quarter scoring off a feed from Dressel before Cahill added two more goals in the period to complete her five-goal performance. Lasell closed out the afternoon with three more goals in the fourth quarter, including tallies from Boldy, Hunt, and Lila Meuse.
Watson led the offense with a nine-point performance, recording four goals and five assists while also contributing five ground balls and three draw controls. Cahill added five goals, while Hunt finished with three goals. Boldy chipped in two goals, and Dressel contributed one goal and three assists.
Defensively, Lasell controlled the pace throughout the contest, holding Thomas to just 10 shots while forcing 29 turnovers. The Lasers also held an advantage in ground balls, 25–13. In goal, Joy Sayah earned the win with a save in the opening quarter. Tia Spenlinhauer and Elyse Meyers combined for the remainder of the game, with Meyers stopping all four shots she faced.
Up Next: The Lasers will be back on their home turf this coming Saturday with a pivotal conference matchup against Norwich University.
