WLAX: Lasell Dominates Albertus Magnus
Newton, MA- Lasell wasted no time taking control and never looked back, erupting for 10 first-quarter goals on the way to a commanding 23-3 GNAC victory over Albertus Magnus Saturday afternoon at Grellier Field.
The Lasers set the tone immediately, scoring four times in the opening three minutes and building a 10-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. Emily Watson and Mara Boldy each recorded two assists in the early surge, while Lily Hunt and Brianna McNeil helped pace the offense with multiple first-quarter finishes.
Lasell continued to apply pressure in the second, extending the lead to 13-1 at halftime behind contributions from Madalynn Whiting-Wyatt, Kate Marino, and Emma Dressel. The Lasers' depth was on full display throughout, with 14 different goal scorers finding the back of the net.
McNeil led the way with a team-high three goals, while Hunt, Boldy, and Kaleigh Kosta each added two. Watson orchestrated the offense with four assists, and Whiting-Wyatt and Ayla Cohen chipped in multi-point efforts as well.
Defensively, Lasell controlled possession from start to finish, holding a 19-7 advantage in draw controls and forcing 18 turnovers. The Lasers also dominated in transition, converting a perfect 10-for-10 on clears. Tia Spenlinhauer earned the win in net, allowing just one goal and making two saves in the first half, while Elyse Meyers handled the second half to secure the combined effort.
Lasell capped the afternoon with a six-goal fourth quarter, highlighted by goals from Rhyan Pitari, Zoe Avery, Kiana Rego, and Juliana Gonzalez to close out the statement victory.
