Newton, MA- The Lasell women's lacrosse team picked up a pivotal GNAC win on Wednesday night, holding off Colby-Sawyer for an 11-9 victory on Grellier Field, earning themselves the fourth seed in postseason play.
The Lasers jumped out early, using goals from Brianna McNeil and Mara Boldy to build a 4-1 first-quarter lead before taking a 7-4 advantage into halftime. Lasell kept control in the third, with Emma Dressel and Emily Watson finding the back of the net to make it 9-6 heading into the final frame.
Colby-Sawyer pushed late, cutting the deficit to two in the final minutes, but the Lasers' defense held strong to secure the conference win.
Boldy led the Lasers with three goals and one assist, while McNeil, Lily Hunt, and Watson each added two goals. Hunt and Watson both finished with two assists, while Ruby Cahill added one goal and two helpers.
Tia Spenlinhauer was strong in net, making 13 saves in the win while holding Colby-Sawyer to 0-for-7 on free-position attempts.
Up Next: Lasell will host Colby-Sawyer once again this Saturday on Grellier Field in the first round of the GNAC Tournament.
