Framingham, MA- The Lasell University women's soccer team opened the 2025 season with a hard-fought 2–2 draw on the road against Framingham State on Saturday afternoon.
In an energetic and physical match, the Lasers showed resilience by twice coming from behind to earn the result. Framingham State opened the scoring in the 7th minute when Bethany Serrano finished a feed from Leiyani Buckner, but Lasell quickly responded just four minutes later with an unassisted goal from Ayla Hathaway, who slotted home the equalizer after a strong individual effort.
The Rams regained the lead in the 36th minute off an unassisted goal from Madison Magone.
Lasell came out pressing in the second half, and their persistence paid off in the 51st minute when Camdyn LaMarre scored off a setup by Kiana Morrison to level the match at 2–2. Both sides pushed for a winner, but strong goalkeeping and defensive play kept the score locked.
The Lasers outshot the Rams 15–10, with Hathaway and LaMarre combining for 8 shots and both goals. Morrison added two shots on goal and an assist. Lasell also held a 7–2 advantage in corner kicks, creating pressure throughout the second half.
Goalkeeper Elizabeth DaSilva made four saves for Lasell to preserve the tie, including key stops in the final stretch. Four Lasell players received yellow cards as the match grew increasingly physical in the later stages.
Up Next: The Lasers are back in action this Saturday, for their home opener against Mount Saint Marys (NY).
