Newton, MA- The Lasell University women's soccer team secured its first win of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Mount Saint Mary's 2–1 in a non-conference matchup that was called early due to lightning.
The Lasers wasted no time getting on the board, with sophomore Camdyn LaMarre striking just three minutes into the match. LaMarre maneuvered around the goalkeeper and slotted home an easy finish to put Lasell up 1–0. Just minutes later, senior Kiana Morrison doubled the lead with a long-range strike that soared over the keeper's head and into the back of the net, giving the Lasers a quick 2–0 advantage.
Mount Saint Mary's responded late in the first half with a goal of their own to cut the lead to 2–1 heading into halftime. Despite outshooting Lasell 12–10 on the day, the Knights were unable to find the equalizer before the match was halted due to severe weather.
The game was officially called in the 75th minute due to lightning, sealing the victory for the Lasers.
Up Next- The Lasers will face the University of New England at home on Wednesday Sept. 10 at 4:00pm.
