Newton MA- After a scoreless first half, the Lasell University women's soccer team found their stride in the second to earn a 2-0 victory over Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday evening.
Both teams traded chances in the opening 45 minutes, but neither team was able to find the back of the net. The Lasers' defense, anchored by goalkeeper Elizabeth DaSilva, held strong to keep the Chargers off the board, while the offense continued to push for opportunities.
The breakthrough came just minutes into the second half when Ayla Hathaway buried a shot off a crisp feed from Kendall Sniper, putting Lasell ahead 1-0. Riding that momentum, the Lasers struck again with under 20 minutes to play as Hathaway unleashed a strike from outside the box that soared over the keeper's head to double the lead.
With a two-goal cushion, the Lasers' back line locked in to secure the shutout and the well-earned victory.
