Newton, MA- The Lasell University women's soccer team delivered a commanding performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating Dean College 3-0.
Lasell came out strong in the opening minutes, testing Dean's defense with early opportunities from Ayla Hathaway, Ava Buchmann, and Mia Pineault. Despite several shots sailing just high or wide, Lasell couldn't find the back of the net early. Their persistence paid off in the 30th minute when Brianna Marrero broke through, scoring the opening goal to give the Lasers a 1-0 lead. They continued to dominate possession and corner kick opportunities, tallying eight in the first half alone.
Lasell carried its momentum into the second half. Just under nine minutes in, Hathaway extended the lead with a well-placed strike in the 54th minute to make it 2-0. Hathaway remained a constant threat, creating several more scoring chances. Lasell's relentless attack sealed the win late in the match when Peyton Joyce added a third goal in the 83rd minute, assisted by Camdyn LaMarre, who orchestrated several of Lasell's set pieces throughout the day. Goalkeeper Elizabeth DaSilva anchored the Lasers defense, recording a clean sheet and making a key saves to preserve the shutout.
Up Next- The Lasers will face Emmanuel College at 7:00pm on Tuesday October 28, for their final regular-season matchup.
