WSOC: Hathaway Named Rookie of the Year; Six Lasers Honored
Newton, MA- The Lasell University women's soccer team wrapped up another strong campaign in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), with six players earning postseason recognition for their outstanding performances.
Leading the way for the Lasers is the junior duo of Mia Pineault and Brianna Marrero, who were both named to the GNAC All-Conference Second Team as well as the GNAC All-Tournament Team. Pineault was an integral piece of Lasell's midfield, starting all 18 matches. Despite being a main piece of the Lasers defensive strategy, Pineault also contributed offensively, finishing tied as Lasell's third-leading scorer with three goals. Joining her on the Second Team is Marrero, who started all 18 games for the Lasers and served as a steady presence on the back line. Marrero was a mainstay in Lasell's defense, helping limit opponents to just a .089 shooting percentage and a 1.01 goals-against average, ranking third in the conference. In addition to her defensive contributions, Marrero made her mark offensively, finishing the season with 10 points on three goals and five assists.
Earning GNAC Third-Team honors and being named the conference's Rookie of the Year is freshman striker Ayla Hathaway, who made an immediate impact in her debut season. Hathaway led the Lasers in both goals and points, finishing with 12 goals and two assists, placing her sixth in the GNAC scoring charts. Joining Hathaway on the Third Team is senior forward Camdyn LaMarre, who closed out her Lasell career with a strong offensive season. LaMarre tallied five goals and five assists for a total of 15 points, consistently creating chances and connecting play in the attacking half. Rounding out the All-Conference honorees is senior goalkeeper Elizabeth DaSilva, who capped her career with a dominant season in net. Starting all 18 games for the Lasers, DaSilva posted a 12-4-2 record with eight shutouts. Over 1,580 minutes of play, she made 89 saves and recorded a stellar .832 save percentage, ranking at the top of the GNAC.
In addition to the All-Conference honorees, senior midfielder Reana Duran was recognized on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Duran appeared in all 18 games for the Lasers, creating a consistent spark off the bench.
