LASERS DROP TWO IN TRI-MATCH
The Lasell College womens volleyball team dropped two matches in GNAC action on Thursday in a tri-match with Emerson College and Emmanuel College. Though the Lasers stayed close with each of the two teams, they were unable to push through for the win, and drop to 2-5 in conference play.

The Lasers opened the night against the Emmanuel College Saints on neutral territory. Lasell kicked off the first set with a 25-18 win, before dropping the next three sets 23-25, 21-25, 14-25.
Amanda Major (Southbury, CT) continued to produce defensively for the Lasers, picking up 24 digs in the 4 set match. Major has been unstoppable for the Lasers in the recent play, picking up over thirty plus digs in each of her past two matches. Major has 316 digs so far this season, averaging 5.64 digs per set.
Also playing consistently well for the Lasers were seniors Nicole Wetterman (Dighton, MA) who had 13 kills, hitting a .235 and Kelsey Schmidt (Ballston Spa, NY) who hit a .269 for 8 kills.
Freshman setter Meghan Crozier (Ballston Spa, NY) picked up 19 assists and 8 digs for the Lasers, also hitting 100% for 3 kills on the evening.
The second matchup consisted of the Lions of Emerson College hosting the Lasers. The Lasers kept in step with the Lions through the first set, losing by only two in the final moments of the match. The second game, the Lions dominated and pulled out a 15-12 victory, but the Lasers recouped and fought back, ending the match with a tight 23-25 loss.
Sophomore Melanie Costa (Ludlow, MA) hit an impressive .444 clip during the match, picking up 4 kills, as well as a team high 15 digs. Major also produced 15 digs in the contest, and Wetterman put down 6 kills.
Though the outcome did not fall in their favor, the Lasers have been playing very strong, and gave each team good competition. The Lasers still have eleven matches remaining in the regular season, including five league matches.
The Lasers travel to Framingham State College on Saturday, October 11th for another tri-match. The Lasers will take on the hosting Rams as well as the Eagles of Husson College. Game times are 10:00 a.m. & 12:00 p.m.
