JWU Womens Volleyball Shuts Out Lasell, 3-0
Providence, R.I. The Johnson & Wales womens volleyball team notched a 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-18) victory against Lasell in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Harborside Recreation Center on Tuesday evening.
Providence, R.I. - The Johnson & Wales women's volleyball team notched a 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-18) victory against Lasell in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Harborside Recreation Center on Tuesday evening.
Lasell was led by freshman Danielle Drapeau (Biddeford, Maine) with four kills and three digs and senior Kelsey Schmidt (Ballston Spa, NY) with four kills and two digs. Junior Amanda Major (Southbury, Conn.) had a match high 18 digs, while Melanie Costa (Ludlow, MA) and Jenna Lynn Geary (Marion, MA) combined for 20 more digs, in the setback for the Lasers.
Johnson & Wales junior Cathy Bravo (Tao Baja, Puerto Rico) had a double-double with 15 kills and 14 digs while freshman Brittney Carrier (Southington, Conn.) added 30 set assists and nine digs for the Wildcats. Senior Kristen Gawrys (Chicago, Ill.) chipped in with eight kills and eight digs for JWU.
Lasell falls to 3-8 overall and 1-1 in league play. Lasell will return to action this weekend when they travel to Mount Ida for a tri-match with Suffolk. The Lasers play at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
