WOMENS VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS GATORS IN THREE
Newton, Mass.-- The Lasers picked up another GNAC win on Tuesday night in the Lasell College Athletic Center over Pine Manor College. The Lasers swept the Gators in three sets, 25-15, 26-24, 25-23.

Lasell came out strong in the first game, winning by ten points. Melanie Costa (Ludlow, MA) went off on a seven point service run to take an early lead. Senior opposite Nicole Wetterman (Dighton, MA) played strong for the Lasers at the net, making eleven kills.
During the second set, the Gators fought back, opening on their own 5 point service run by Jennifer Gross (Coral Springs, FL). The Gators enjoyed an 8-3 lead, but the Lasers began inching their way back. The Lasers made a side out to tie the game at 17, and took their first lead of the set with Jenna-Lynn Geary (Marion, MA) serving, making the game 20-19.
The teams battled back and forth for the final points, and tied once again at 24 before the Lasers forced the extra points and won, 26-24.
The third set was just as close, with both teams working hard to gain control of the lead. The Lasers finished victorious once again at 25-23 to close the match.
Amanda Major (Southbury, CT) finished the match with 25 digs, with Costa picking up 12. Meghan Crozier (Ballston Spa, NY) set up 25 assists for the Lasers, while also scooping up 9 digs. Crozier was this week's Rookie of the Week in the GNAC for women's volleyball.
Rookie middle hitter Danielle Drapeau (Biddeford, ME) was also a force at the net for the Lasers, coming out of the night with 7 kills, 3 solo blocks, and one assisted block.
The Lasers have evened their conference record to 5-5, while their overall record stands at 9-16. Lasell has three more regular season matches to play before the GNAC tournament begins in November.
The women's volleyball team plays next at Babson College on Thursday, October 30th at 7:00 p.m.
