WVB: Katz and Aceituno Receive Weekly GNAC Honors
Newton, MA- Lasell University seniors Sydney Katz and Andrea Aceituno have been recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) for their outstanding performances, as announced Monday afternoon. Katz was named GNAC Setter of the Week for the second consecutive week after another dominant stretch running the Lasers' offense. Aceituno joined her teammate among the conference's weekly award winners, earning GNAC Player of the Week honors.
Katz, Lasell's veteran setter, orchestrated the offense with poise and consistency, tallying 113 assists across three matches while averaging 9.42 assists per set. Her impact extended beyond setting, as she contributed seven service aces, consistently keeping opponents off balance from the service line. Katz also recorded two double-doubles during the week: first with 41 assists and 11 digs in a sweep of Wheaton, then again with 29 assists and 10 digs in a straight-sets win over WPI.
On the outside, Aceituno delivered a dominant all-around performance, finishing the week with 36 kills, 34 digs (2.83 per set), and an impressive .953 reception percentage on 64 attempts. She notched back-to-back double-doubles to close the week, starting with 15 kills and 13 digs in the sweep of WPI, and following it up with 14 kills and 11 digs in a thrilling five-set victory over Plymouth State.
