WVB: Lasell Battles Wentworth for 3-2 Win
Newton, MA- Lasell edged out Wentworth in a thrilling five-set match, prevailing 3-2 to maintain their undefeated record at 8-0. The match was a rollercoaster of momentum shifts as both teams battled fiercely.
Wentworth came out strong in the opening set, taking it 28-26 in a tightly contested battle. However, Lasell bounced back immediately in the second set, making some tactical adjustments to win 25-18. Wentworth responded in the third set, capitalizing on some unforced errors by Lasell and seizing the set 25-18 to even the match at 1-2.
Determined not to let the match slip away, Lasell exploded out of the gate in the fourth set with a dominant 10-point run, allowing Wentworth just a single point during that stretch. Powered by this surge, along with a potent offense and impenetrable blocking presence, the Lasers controlled the frame and won the set 25-17, forcing a decisive fifth set. The final set saw Lasell dominate from the start, outscoring Wentworth 15-6 behind clutch plays and consistent execution.
Trinity Silva led the Lasell offense, delivering 19 kills on 43 attempts with a strong .302 hitting percentage and contributing 22.5 points overall. Morgan Bogli supported the attack with 14 kills on 36 attempts and 21.5 points, while also adding 5 blocks. Michelle French provided a strong presence at the net with 10 points, including 8 block assists.
