WVB: Lasell Concludes Season in NCAA First Round Against Kean
Medford, MA- The Lasers 2025 season has come to a close after a hardfought battle against Kean (NJ) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Lasell, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) champions, entered the match riding a strong postseason run, but Kean's efficient offense and steady defensive pressure proved to be the difference.
Kean opened the first set with an offensive surge that Lasell couldn't quite get a handle on, launching an eight-point run before the Lasers even got on the board. Despite the early deficit, Lasell showed resilience. Midway through the set, the Lasers capitalized on several well-timed Cougar errors, swinging momentum back in their direction. Two aces from Ariana Regala and a perfectly timed block brought Lasell within five, but the gap proved too large to close as Kean took the set 25–17.
Lasell found their groove in the second set, displaying a far more balanced and composed attack. The Lasers hit .227 in the frame—almost triple their opening-set efficiency—fueled by strong swings from Morgan Bogli and Trinity Silva. Lasell matched Kean point for point throughout the set, even taking brief leads as the Lasers' blocking and serve-receive steadied. Despite the late push, Kean edged out the set 26–24, escaping Lasell's best offensive stretch of the night.
The third set followed a similar script, with Lasell surging early and forcing the Cougars into extended rallies. Strong defensive work in the back row by Madeline Caro and consistent setting from Sydney Katz kept Lasell within striking distance. Bogli continued to anchor the attack, helping the Lasers stay tight through the set. Kean's experience and late-set execution, however, allowed them to secure the final frame 25–22.
Lasell was paced by Bogli, who delivered a standout postseason performance with 15 kills, 3 aces, and 2 block assists, totaling 19 points. Katz distributed 20 assists, adding 4 kills and 8 digs, while Victoria Pariseault was a presence at the net with 5 block assists.
