New London, CT- The Lasers faced Mitchell College on Sunday afternoon and lost both games, 8-5 and 12-2.
Game 1-
Offensively, the Lasers put together a solid performance with 9 hits and showed the ability to generate runs throughout the lineup. Connor Freitas led the way with a huge day, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, and 4 RBIs, accounting for the majority of the team's offense. Declan Silva continued his strong play at the top of the order, finishing 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base. Jeremy Angeles added two hits, including a double, while Tim Callahan reached base twice and scored a run. Lasell was able to plate five runs, but again left some opportunities on the table, stranding six runners and striking out seven times.
On the mound, Ty Lohsen gave a solid effort through five innings, allowing four runs while working around traffic and limiting major damage. However, things shifted in the sixth inning when Michael Webber came on in relief and allowed four runs on five hits, including a home run, as the Mariners pulled away.
Game 2-
The offense managed 8 hits, but couldn't string together enough timely swings to keep pace. Declan Silva was the bright spot, going 2-for-4 with both RBIs. Freitas also collected two hits, while Callahan, Bobby Long, Angeles, and Braelen Silva each added one. Despite the traffic, Lasell left 7 runners on base and struck out 9 times without drawing a walk.
On the mound, Luke Descheneaux took the loss after allowing 7 runs in 2.1 innings, as the opposition built a quick lead. Lucas Stogner provided a solid middle relief effort, surrendering just one run over 2.2 innings with two strikeouts. Tommy Flanagan followed with a scoreless frame before Will McPherson ran into trouble late, giving up 3 runs while issuing three walks.
