Newton, MA- The Lasell University men's lacrosse team dropped a tightly contested battle to Emerson College, 11–10, on Wednesday afternoon at Grellier Field.
The Lasers came out sharp, building a 3–2 lead after the first quarter behind goals from Carson Tucker, Julian Vogel, and Nate Campbell. Lasell continued to find success in the second, getting scores from Ryan Haden and Vogel to take a 5–4 advantage into halftime.
The Lions opened the third quarter on a 4–0 run to turn a one-goal deficit into an 8–5 lead midway through the frame. Lasell answered with three goals of their own, including a pair from Haden and Vogel, while Jason Martin found the back of the net in the final seconds to even the score at 8–8 heading into the fourth.
Lasell regained the lead early in the final quarter as Sam Guilmette and Vogel scored to make it 10–9 with just over three minutes remaining.
Emerson responded with back-to-back man-up goals in the closing minutes, including the game-winner with just 18 seconds left, to secure the 11–10 victory.
Vogel led the Lasers offensively with four goals, while Haden added two goals. Martin contributed a goal and two assists, and Campbell finished with a goal and an assist. At the faceoff X, Matthew Carbone went 12-for-20 to give Lasell key possessions throughout the game. Defensively, Carbone and Dom Dionisio each collected multiple ground balls, while Cameron Soave made 15 saves in goal.
Up Next: Lasell will look to bounce back this coming Saturday, where they'll take on GNAC opponent Mitchell College.
