Newton MA- The Lasell University men's soccer team delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, shutting out Lesley University 5–0 in a physical non-conference matchup at Taylor Field. The win marks the Lasers' largest margin of victory since the 2016 season.
The match opened with early momentum for Lasell, as a Lesley own goal in the opening minutes gave the home side a 1–0 lead. The Lasers capitalized on the early break and kept the pressure on, with Ryan Klopchin adding a solo goal to extend the lead.
Just before halftime, Brent Bickel threaded a pass upfield to Emilio Magdon, who buried a clean finish to give Lasell a 3–0 advantage heading into the break.
Lesley managed to contain the Lasers for much of the second half, but Lasell's attack eventually broke through again. Christopher Guzman set up Owen O'Brien for the fourth goal of the day, and Avery Reid capped off the performance with a strike to the top-left corner for the final 5–0 result.
Lasell outshot Lesley 23–5 and held a 6–2 edge in corner kicks, showcasing their dominance on both ends of the pitch. Defensively, the Lasers posted a clean sheet to secure their second win of the season.
Up Next: Lasell will be back on the pitch for a non-conference matchup against UMaine-Farmington at home on Tuesday Sept. 9 at 4:00pm.
