Newton, MA- The Lasell University men's soccer team celebrated their seniors on Saturday afternoon at their game against Rivier, but came up short in a 1-3 setback.
Rivier opened the scoring in the 16th minute to put the Raiders ahead 1–0. Lasell goalkeeper Avry Dorocha, who entered early in the first half, made multiple key stops to keep the game within reach.
The Raiders doubled their lead early in the second half in the 51st minute to make it 2–0. Lasell worked to respond with offensive pressure, generating looks from Daniel Augustine and Dillon Winkelmann, but the Rivier goalkeeper was up to the task. The Raiders extended their lead again to 3–0 in the 86th minute, but Lasell refused to go quietly. Breaking through in the 89th minute, Owen O'Brien buried a late goal off an assist from Charles Cole, trimming the deficit to 3–1.
Despite the late spark, time ran out on the comeback effort. Dorocha finished with several strong saves in net for Lasell, while the Raiders keeper recorded multiple stops to secure the win for Rivier.
