Marcy, NY- The Lasers kicked off their 2025 season on the road, at the SUNY Poly Tournament. The Lasers went 3-1 on the weekend, defeating Nazareth, Misercordia, Sage and dropping their single game to Hobart. Two Lasers were selected by the coaches to represent Lasell on the All-Tournament Team, Theo Zaharewicz and Jordan Shinaut. Freshman Trystan Maloney had an outstanding showing in his first collegiate appearance, reaching 100 assists.
Lasell vs Nazareth
The Lasers faced off against Nazareth for their first game of the weekend, winning with a convincing 3-1 final score.
Jasper Schultz lead the offense with a whopping 14 kills, followed by Zaharawicz who put up 13. Maloney tallied 34 assists in his first collegiate appearance, while Ryan Mesnik held the defensive line with 8 digs.
Lasell vs Misericordia
Lasell took their second match of the day with another 3-1 win, this time against Misericordia who was ranked fourth regionally at the conclusion of the 2024 season.
Zaharewicz lead the offense with 19 kills, followed by Shinaut who put up 14. Maloney added another 35 assists and 8 digs to the day, while Schultz tallied 9 digs.
Lasell vs Hobart
Sunday morning the Lasers dropped their first and only game of the tournament to Hobart, who was ranked fifth in Region II last season.
Shinaut tallied 17 kills on the match, while Zaharewicz put up 13. They each registered 6 digs on the defensive side.
Maloney recorded 33 assists, while Mesnik had 8 digs.
Lasell vs Sage
In their final game of the tournament, Lasell put up a decisive 3-0 win over Sage.
Zaharewicz lead the offense with 11 kills, followed by Teddy Teraszkiewicz with 10.
Cody Bonilla registered 26 assists, while Collin Liedke contributed 10. The Lasers defense was once again lead by Mesnik, with 7 digs.
