WBB: Lasers Down Fitchburg State 61-48
Fitchburg, MA- Lasell improved to 7–1 on the season with a strong 61–48 road victory over Fitchburg State on Monday night.
After a slow offensive start in the opening quarter, the Lasers settled in and took control of the game with an 18-point second period, entering halftime with a 26–19 advantage. The momentum continued into the third, where Lasell outscored the Falcons 20–17 and never allowed the hosts to regain their footing.
Rebounding and ball movement proved to be key factors in the win, as Lasell dominated the glass with a 47–37 advantage and recorded 11 assists on 23 made field goals. Three Lasers finished in double figures, led by Abigail Duclos and Blaize Mack, who each tallied 12 points. Mack added a team-high eight rebounds, while Duclos contributed six boards and five steals in an all-around standout performance. Laura Johnson posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, providing consistent interior presence on both ends of the floor. Erica Lendall added an important spark off the bench, knocking down three triples for nine points.
Defensively, Lasell held Fitchburg State to under 35 percent shooting and limited the Falcons to just four made three-pointers. The Lasers' pressure forced 17 turnovers, helping to maintain a steady lead throughout the second half.
Up Next: Lasell will be back on their home court this coming Saturday, with a matchup against non-conference opponent Gordon College.
