WBB: Lasers Fly Past Rivier 57-47
Nashua, NH- The Lasers continued their GNAC campaign with another win against Rivier on Saturday afternoon.
Lasell opened the game with strong defensive energy in the first quarter, forcing early misses and controlling the glass behind Laura Johnson's rebounding presence. Alexis Bulson-Cuozzo jumpstarted the offense with early scoring inside and out, while the Lasers capitalized on turnovers and second-chance opportunities to seize momentum. Active defense and balanced contributions across the lineup helped Lasell take a 17-6 lead into the second quarter.
As the pace slowed in the second quarter, Lasell continued to assert control by dominating the boards and creating additional scoring chances. The Lasers forced multiple turnovers to fuel transition opportunities, while Teagan Clancy knocked down timely perimeter shots to keep the momentum rolling. Strong defensive rebounding from Johnson anchored the quarter, allowing Lasell to gradually extend the lead and head into halftime up 26-21.
Defensive pressure remained the difference in the third quarter, as the Lasers forced turnovers and cleaned up the glass behind Daeserae Williamson and Johnson. Blaize Mack provided a spark inside with strong finishes, while Abigail Duclos contributed key points at the line and from beyond the arc. Lasell continued to build its lead and entered the fourth quarter ahead 40-35.
Lasell closed out the game with poise, leaning on rebounding and timely execution to keep Rivier at bay. Mack controlled the paint with multiple offensive boards and key free throws, while Johnson added a late layup and continued to dominate on the glass at both ends. Even as Rivier made a late push, the Lasers stayed composed at the foul line and on defense to secure the win.
