WBB: Lasers Lose to Saint Joseph's Maine
Standish, ME- The Lasers traveled to Saint Joseph's Maine on Tuesday evening and was defeated 77-64.
Lasell opened the game trading baskets early, with Daeserae Williamson scoring the game's first points and Abigail Duclos attacking the lane. The pace was physical, with both teams forcing turnovers and crashing the glass. Lasell stayed within striking distance thanks to early defensive rebounds from Laura Johnson, but Saint Joseph's began to find rhythm late in the quarter, edging ahead 15–13 after ten minutes.
The second quarter belonged to the Monks, as they used defensive pressure and transition offense to stretch the lead. Lasell struggled to convert shots consistently, despite strong efforts inside from Blaize Mack on the boards. Turnovers and second-chance points allowed the Monks to pull away. Lasell trailed 40–32 at halftime.
The Lasers came out of the half with improved ball movement and aggressive defense. Shirle Major provided a spark offensively as Lasell cut into the deficit with timely free throws and perimeter looks, trimming the lead to single digits at points. However, the Monks answered each run, maintaining control heading into the fourth, 56–47.
Lasell continued to battle in the final quarter. Mack added interior scoring and rebounding as Lasell pushed the pace late. Despite forcing turnovers and converting at the free-throw line, the Lasers couldn't fully close the gap. Saint Joseph's sealed the game at the line, handing Lasell a 77–64 loss.
