WBB: Lasell Dominates Albertus Magnus
New Haven, CT- The Lasers delivered a commanding 73-53 victory over Albertus Magnus on Saturday afternoon.
Lasell came out strong in the first quarter, building momentum through aggressive rebounding and timely shooting to take a 20–11 lead over Albertus Magnus. Daeserae Williamson opened the scoring off an assist from Shirle Major. Laura Johnson controlled the paint with multiple rebounds and interior baskets. Major provided a spark from beyond the arc with back-to-back three-pointers and added a layup to extend the advantage. Despite a few late turnovers and missed shots, Lasell's defensive pressure and second-chance opportunities helped them maintain control and finish the quarter with a nine-point edge.
The Lasers controlled the second quarter with strong work on the glass, stretching the lead to as much as 20 points. Major continued her hot shooting, knocking down multiple three-pointers, while also converting at the free-throw line. Ashley Gagner added a three of her own and a mid-range jumper. Johnson continued to dominate the boards on both ends, securing defensive rebounds and finishing inside. The Lasers went to the locker room up 46-30
Lasell continued to dominate in the third quarter, pushing the lead past 20. Blaize Mack was a big presence, converting multiple layups while also grabbing rebounds. Johnson remained steady inside, finishing through contact and Major continued to make shots to help bring the lead to 63-43 going into the final quarter.
The Lasers pulled away in the fourth to secure the win. Major and Gagner each knocked down three-pointers to extend the lead. Albertus Magnus trimmed the deficit after a brief run, but Lasell's defense and rebounding sealed the victory 73-53.
