Waterville, ME – The Lasers team opened their season in impressive fashion, defeating Thomas College by a decisive score of 19-6 on Saturday afternoon. The Lasers displayed a dominant offensive performance, led by several standout players, to secure the victory in their season opener.
Lasell quickly set the tone for the game, jumping out to an early 8-1 lead in the first quarter. The Terriers put the first point on the board, but Lasell's Emily Watson responded with two back to back goals within thirty-seconds of eachother. Kaitlin Bedell was a key contributor for the Lasers, recording 7 goals, while Alice Rourke added 5 goals and an assist. The Lasers maintained control throughout, outshooting Thomas College by a significant margin of 41 to 10.
The team displayed excellent control over the game, particularly in the draw circle, where they dominated with 22 draw controls compared to Thomas College's 6. The game featured balanced contributions from several players. Emily Watson added 3 goals and 1 assist, while Mara Boldy also tallied 2 goals and 1 assist. Ruby Cahill and Jade Sullivan each added a goal to the tally, rounding out a well-rounded offensive effort for the Lasers.
