Newton, MA- The Lasers posted an impressive 16-6 win over GNAC opponent New England College. With the win Lasell now moves to 4-3 in conference play, while NEC drops to 3-4.
Lasell came out of the gates swinging, posting three goals on the board, while keeping NEC scoreless. The Lasers opened up the second quarter by adding three more goals to take a 6-0 lead. However, NEC battled back and tacked two goals on the board, bringing the game right within reach of the Pilgrims.
After halftime, Lasell came out with renewed energy and scored four consecutive goals to start the third quarter, pushing their lead further. NEC fought back in the final two minutes of the third, scoring two quick goals to bring the game to 10-5 heading into the final quarter.
The Lasers finished strong in the fourth quarter, scoring six more goals and limiting NEC to just one, securing a dominant 16-6 win.
Freshman Alice Rourke was a standout, scoring 6 goals in the game, while Kaitlin Bedell also contributed heavily with 5 goals. On the defensive side, Mara Boldy played an essential role, recording 5 caused turnovers and 5 ground balls, while Joy Sayah was solid in goal, making 8 saves and allowing only 6 goals.
Up Next: The Lasers will be back on their home turf this Thursday, with a non-conference matchup against Salem State.
